Goin to Vegas!

Well - I am really getting excited!! I am going to Vegas for a conference and my lovely baby girl, who's 23, will be there also!!! It'll be exactly 1 year since we've seen each other and I know that it's going to such fun to hang out and talk, talk, talk without a phone attached to the ear!!! But - I know that when we each have to go our seperate way - it's going to be the worst!!!

When I get on the plane people will think I'm a freak crying like a loon... what do I care? I'll knit and cry and eat the measly 4 peanuts they give me - what a great flight!!

I can hardly wait till she moves back home - do you hear that Tiffygirl???? I'll be patient!! And by the way my sweet girl - check out the quotes below and really embrace them!! I know that you are capable of so very much - so dang talented!!! Do what you love - the money will follow - and even if you don't make a million dollars - you'll be so happy doing what you love that it doesn't matter!!

Now - if I could just figure out a way to knit for a living...

On to knitting talk:

I've started a new sweater... the Rusted Root. I just love the sweater pattern... although it's been kind of a pain. I bought some yarn, I did a swatch - got gauge... cast on... knitted about 25 rounds and looked at it and realized that this yarn was not the right yarn for it. The leaf pattern was just not going to show... so I ripped it out, went and got a different yarn - Berroco Ultra Alpaca - $7.50 a hank. Can't beat that!!! Swatched. Got gauge and cast on. I don't know what I did - but I fall asleep more often than not when I knit - so that might be the problem! But I've had to rip out and cast on like 5 times!!! ugh!!!

Sleeping and knitting just do not go together! I think it might be like counting sheep? I'm counting stiches instead and so then I fall asleep.. but hey - be proud of me! I hold my needles all night long in one spot, I've yet to poke myself or my husband... sometimes he'll take my knitting and set it aside if he wakes up and sees me... but sometimes I'll hold my knitting for hours while I'm asleep. And the really goofy thing is - I'll wake up, see my knitting, knit a few stichesk, fall asleep, wake up, knit a few stiches, fall asleep... it's a very vicious cycle!! But! I get a lot of knitting done this way - the only problem is - I generally screw it up since I'm sleepknitting and who knows what pattern I'm following.

Does anyone else have this problem? Maybe I should write a book - Sleepknitting! A whole new craft! And perhaps I could figure out - how do I Sleepknit for a living - since as we've all just learned - when I knit - I fall asleep - do you see how this could be a problem? Seriously!!
